Safeguarding Policy

1. Introduction
Tosol Impact Initiatives is committed to creating a safe environment for all individuals, particularly children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
2. Purpose and Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, trustees, and partners. It ensures compliance with UK safeguarding laws.
3. Our Safeguarding Principles
- Promoting the welfare and well-being of all children and vulnerable adults.
- Preventing harm and abuse through effective safeguarding practices.
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and disclosures.
- Ensuring all staff and volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
4. Recognising and Responding to Safeguarding Concerns
- Physical abuse (e.g., hitting, shaking, excessive restraint)
- Emotional abuse (e.g., intimidation, bullying, humiliation)
- Sexual abuse (e.g., exploitation, inappropriate contact, grooming)
- Neglect (e.g., failing to provide necessary care, medical attention, or supervision)
Reporting Concerns: Any safeguarding concern should be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or deputy. If an individual is in immediate danger, emergency services should be contacted via 999.
5. Safeguarding Procedures
- Recruitment & Vetting: All staff and volunteers undergo DBS checks where applicable.
- Training: All representatives receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role.
- Code of Conduct: We expect all representatives to uphold the highest safeguarding standards.
- Partnerships: Tosol Impact ensures safeguarding measures are in place with external partners.
6. Roles and Responsibilities
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Oversees safeguarding procedures and responds to concerns.
- Staff & Volunteers: Must follow safeguarding training and report any concerns.
- Trustees & Leadership: Ensure safeguarding policies are implemented effectively.
7. Reviewing & Updating this Policy
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to legal changes and safeguarding best practices.
