Part 1: A Journey of Purpose and Connection
When I think back to my recent visit to The Gambia, it wasn’t just another trip—it was a journey filled with purpose, connection, and transformation. What began as a celebration of a dear friend’s milestone birthday turned into a week of impactful service, deep reflection, and unforgettable experiences.
Dr. AA, a skilled surgeon, decided that for his 50th birthday, he wanted to give back. Under the umbrella of TOSOL Initiatives, he gathered a team of like-minded individuals to work alongside him, celebrating through service. For me, this opportunity carried an even deeper personal significance—my younger brother, a pastor at The Stone Church, is currently serving in The Gambia.
In a divine orchestration, our team partnered with Word Alive Ministries, a church with a strong commitment to community outreach worldwide. The link-up was nothing short of God’s masterpiece, but that’s a story for another day.
Our journey began with a powerful thanksgiving service at The Stone Church. The worship, led by Mrs. Shalom Raji, was deeply moving, bringing many of us to tears. Pastor Lekan delivered a sermon from 1 Corinthians 8:12-13, a scripture that resonated deeply:
“Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.”
These words stayed with me, shaping my mindset and reinforcing the weight of our choices and responsibilities towards others. We danced, we worshipped, and we gave thanks to our Father for granting us the privilege to serve.
